PMAP Gives Back

In the spirit of spreading joy and cheer during the holiday season, the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP) collaborated with Paint it Fun, NextGen, and I-Fern to organize a special event in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

On December 2, 2023, PMAP members, dedicated volunteers, and I-Fern owner Kim Abelar, accompanied by her I-Fern Mini Ladies, came together for a heartwarming event for the women and children of the DSWD Haven for Women in Muntinlupa City.

The event went beyond just painting and canvases. With the generous support of Paint it Fun, NextGen, and I-Fern, the participants also received essential items like clothing, toiletries, and skincare kits. This ensured that their basic needs were met, complementing the efforts to bring smiles to their faces.

PMAP and its partners were dedicated to brightening the day for the incredible women and children at the DSWD Haven for Women. Their aim was to provide a sense of warmth, happiness, and belonging during the holiday season and, most importantly, make a lasting positive difference in their lives.

Models Turn Green Warriors

In a heartwarming collaboration, the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP) teamed up with the local government unit (LGU) of Bulacan on April 2, 2023, with the mission to breathe new life into a barren space located in Baliwag City. However, the joint effort wasn’t just about planting trees but envisioning a green space where residents could escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and simply enjoy their time. The goal was to help transform that space into a relaxing park for all locals to unwind in.

Spearheading the environmental charge, Sprinto, who is also passionate about saving the environment, stepped in with shades that went beyond mere fashion statements. Providing eye protection for participants, Sprinto’s shades became symbolic shields against the sun, underscoring the collaborative commitment to creating a more sustainable space.

In addition to them, Tita Bebot’s special pancit Malabon and pancit lomein became a great support during this endeavor as their food became the much-needed fuel for our green warriors. More than just a gastronomic delight, Tita Bebot’s contribution embodied the essence of community care, demonstrating how local businesses of any kind can play a pivotal role in fostering environmental initiatives.

And to top it off, Coffee & Chill came in to supply all of our participants with a much-needed caffeine fix to keep their energy up under the blazing sun. Their delicious coffee not only fueled the planting efforts but also created moments of connection and shared laughter, turning the activity into an even livelier community gathering.

The tree planting event was both fulfilling and enjoyable, as it celebrated collaboration and community spirit. PMAP, LGU of Bulacan, Sprinto, Tita Bebot, and Coffee & Chill worked together in their own unique ways to paint a vision of a transformed space and contribute to it. A space where both nature and people can coexist harmoniously.

As the first saplings take root, we are excited to see the lasting impact of this small act on a sunny afternoon. We hope that beyond simply planting trees, this event sows the seeds for a future thriving and interconnected community, ready to bloom and flourish.

PMAP 35th Anniversary: #PMAPnow

For 35 years, PMAP has been the home of the Philippines top models and beauty queens. And in 2022, the association is as strong as it has ever been, with an upsurge of Filipino models finding sustained success on the global stage and the welcoming of a more diverse cast of models into the group as we introduce #PMAPnow. #PMAPnow is the association’s answer to the evolution of the fashion industry, where we aim to encourage and guide a new range of “unconventional” models from all walks of life. No longer are we limiting ourselves to the standard runway fashion models but #PMAPnow includes plus size, athletes, influencers and models of all genders. We aim to continue our mission of uplifting, protecting and professionalizing this next generation of fashion models in the Philippines just as we did since our founding back in 1987.

The launching of #PMAPnow is timely as PMAP is celebrating its 35th anniversary. On November 22, 2022, PMAP organized the 35th anniversary ball held at Hilton Manila hosted by Joey Mead. The ball introduced the new PMAP Board, headed by President Margarita Gutierrez, showcasing the designs of fashion designer, Mark Bvmgarner. All former female presidents walked the runway as a tribute to them starting with the first female president, Tweetie de Leon, and ending with outgoing President Ana Sideco. Apples Aberin, Rissa Mananquil and Phoemela Baranda, all former PMAP presidents, also walked the runway.

The night was truly a success and promises of a great beginning for the new generation of PMAP models.

PMAP Team Building at Camp N Nuvali

PMAP held a team building at Camp N Nuvali. The models were divided into four groups. It was one of the most memorable team buildings PMAP ever conducted. The models were subjected to various challenges and activities, such as, rapelling, wall climbing, free fall, archery, and zip line to name a few. It was also raining hard which added more difficulty to the challenges. At the end of the games, it was the red team that won and took 1st place.
